Day 16 - Elissa

I'm not quite sure what happened, but I'm not complaining!

We were out dancing at the Grind tonight.  One minute we're just hanging out having fun and the next minute Rob kissed me!

It makes so much sense.  Rob is by far my best friend and I can't imagine going out with anyone else in town.  We just 'work' together.  So maybe it wasn't some romantic hookup out of a movie but it can still work.

I agreed to going steady for now.  That seems so juvenile.. 'going steady'.  And since we already live together its not like we're just seeing each other on dates.  But I don't want to jump into anything more permanent just yet.  As much as I'd like it to work, I'm just not sure Rob is 'the one' yet.

Day 15 - Rob

It was a nice relaxing, quiet Sunday.  I needed a slow day to recouperate after the party yesterday.  I don't remember inviting that many people.

Next time I have a party, I really need to get this place looking better.  It's embarassing to answer questions about where all the walls are.  I just kept playing the guitar to keep people distracted.

Speaking of the guitar, I took it to the park today and jammed for a while.  I even got a few tips from people watching.  I must be getting better at this.

Day 14 - Elissa

It was my best birthday in my whole life  Rob bought me a book on gardening, that was really sweet of him.  I can't believe how much work he put into the party.  I caught him cleaning the bathroom and we even had a new stove show up so he could cook some decent food!

Rob really did throw me an amazing birthday party.  It seemed like half the town was there.

Day 13 - Rob

Work hard and play hard right?  I did a fair bit of working hard.  I think that toilet clogs up at least once a day.

Tomorrow is Elissa's birthday so I did a bit of shopping and picked her up a book on gardening, I think she'll like it.

After shopping and plumbing we went out for some drinks and dancing.

I gotta say this kid is fun when she isn't complaining about the freaking walls!

Day 12 - Elissa

It's my second day on the honor roll.  I'm surprised I can keep my grades up with the house the way it is.

I keep asking Rob when we can get some walls and he just changes the subject.  But he seems to be bringing home odds and ends like a new mirror randomly.  I think he quit his job too, but he isn't interested in talking about it.

Day 11 - Rob

I took the plunge and quit my day job.  I thought I could make just as much cash playing for tips in the park as I could bagging groceries.

Man was I wrong.  I met a few folks but no one was interested enough in my music to drop a few simoleans.

Day 10 - Elissa

Another boring day of school and homework.  I didn't even see Rob cause he was off at some fancy party with a bunch of celebrities.

I went to the park, alone.  I did find some new plants and brought home some clippings.  I know its not something everyone would be excited about but it was the highlight of my day.

Day 9 - Rob

I tried to lighten things up today with a party after work.  I inited over my new friends and a few people Elissa hadmet but it was mostly a flop.

No one had a great time and there  were no fistfights.  I heard one person say it was a "nice" time.  Talk about a dud of a party.

I need something more to do with my time and set some goals.  Maybe I could take up painting or playing the guitar.

Day 8 - Rob

It seems like the hottest spot in town is the salvage yard.  I met a pretty interesting girl there today, but quickly realized she was much too young for me despite her 70's hairdoo.  I do not understand women at all.

I told Elissa not to use the stove until we installed a proper fire alarm but she went ahead and made herself some waffles this morning.  Typical teenager.  She didn't burn the house down but the waffles were horrifying.

Elissa stayed out late at the park.  She was probably hanging around with a bunch of kids instead of fishing like she claims.  I don't have the energy to get on her case about it so I just helped her with her homework and called it a night.

Day 7 - Elissa

Rob FINALLY made a friend today.  Maybe now he'll stop acting so mopey and weird all the time.

It was pretty funny when he set the place on fire.  I bet if I had been the one to do that I would have gotten hell.

Weekends are lame here, not much to do.  I went fishing of all things.   I can't cook any of it up though cause Rob won't let me near the stove.   Just because HE set the place on fire doesn't mean I'm that stupid!!!!

Day 6 - Rob

OK, so Autumn Salad it is.

I picked up a cheap-o-stove and nearly killed my neighbors.  I think I'm going to lay low for a while and hope everyone just forgets about this 'incident'.

When Elissa got home from school we had a good laugh about it.  Maybe we're just as weird as the rest of the people in this town after all.

Day 5 - Rob

Ugh, I am getting a little tired of Autumn Salad.  It used to be my favorite food, but for every meal every day?

I hit the Grind again tonight and met up with this hot Goth chic.  After we hit the dance floor she wasn't interested in talking.

Another dead end, but I'm sure I'll score eventually.  This town is full of weirdos but someone has to be the "right" weirdo for me.

Day 4 - Elissa

Things might be looking up... maybe.

There was a chair to eat breakfast in, instead of eating on the toilet.  Should I really be EXCITED about this??

I went over to Michael's house after school.  His pad is NICE, I wish I lived there instead the hole in the ground I do.  Oh wait, a hole might be an improvement.

I tried to enter an eating contest today to get some cash but even though I was starving I didn't win.  Looks like Rob did though because I came home to some nicer beds he picked up.  Maybe I can start getting my homework done if I get a good night's sleep.  I haven't told Rob, but no matter how hard I try I just fall asleep before I can get it done and my grades are slipping.

Day 3 - Rob

I picked up a part time job at the grocery store.  The work is pretty demeaning but at least it isn't in the graveyard.  There is no way I can hold down a full time job with a teenager in the house.

I did manage to salvage a chair today.  Elissa seemed pretty upset about sitting on the toilet to eat.  Normally I don't care, but it did get clogged up today and the combination of smells from the salad and the toilet wasn't making my mouth water in a good way.

The days seem to be getting shorter, or longer, I'm not sure.  But we're settling into a routine.  I caught a glimpse of Elissa at the library today doing her homework which is a really good sign.

After cleaning, working and watering her garden I needed a little 'me' time, so I hit the grind.  It was the hotspot tonight but I didn't see a whole lot other than the bottom of my glass.

First Day of School

Dear Diary,

This is Elissa.  I thought I might need to reintroduce myself since my life has totally GONE DOWN THE TOILET.

My parents are gone and I'm stuck with this loser Rob.

Our place is so lame, I have to sit on the TOILET to eat and the place has NO FLOOR.  Even the maillady runs away as fast as she can after throwing our mail on the floor.

The schoolbus came today and everyone saw where we lived.  A girl came home with me, but I think she just wanted to laugh at my pathetic NON HOUSE.

I know Rob has been salvaging through the dump for our stuff, it is SO embarrassing.

I want my parents back.

Moving Day

My life has literally been turned upside down.  My best friends Alice and Matthew were killed in a freak meteor impact.  When I heard the news I was crushed, horrible pun not intended.   I knew the world would never be the same without them but I had no idea what it really meant.

In their will they had asked that I take care of their daughter Elissa, now in here teens.  I know we had talked about this over some beers in the past but I never once thought it would be a real issue.

Now I've sold everything I have and moved to Sunset Valley for "the schools", which people insist are the best.

We showed up on our new lot.  I have barely any money and a teenager to look after and only the very basics.  But my first thought is "What the hell is she wearing??"  Her parents are dead and she's wearing fishnet tshirts?  I took a deep breath and moved on, this is no time to be getting upset about clothes, her parents just died so she has to be acting out somehow.

The homestead was so dreary that I decided we should get out for the day and enjoy the nice weather.  We hit the park and I did some fishing.  At least we'll have some fresh fish to stock up the fridge.

After seeing what she was wearing, I thought Elissa was going to be needing constant supervision.  When I got home I had a nice surprise.  She had started her very own little garden and there was a leftover autumn salad in the fridge.

I can't be a father to her or ever replace her mother.  I know I need to make some new friends of my own too if I'm going to fit in here in a new town.  But we have beds, a bathroom and something that might pass for a kitchen.
